Who is Mike James and Smartphone Photography Training?
After his mother passed away, Mike James discovered that he did not have many photos and no video of her and those precious interactions with his young family. What makes this story unique? Mike was a professional photographer with access to all the large expensive camera gear. His mother, like most of us over 35 had a camera phobia and did not like having her photo taken. If Mike was an earlier adopter to using his phone to capture photos - his children would have more recorded memories of their grandmother.
Mike, the "Smartphone Photo Guy" has now become a smartphone photography purist and sought after guest speaker on how to achieve more out of your phone camera and make your images look amazing - using mobile editing apps and simple techniques.
He removes the frustration for individuals and businesses not knowing what to photograph or how to make your smartphone photos look better. You know the images that make you think WOW. Mike shows you how to achieve this without the jargon and really enjoy photography on that convenient amazing camera you have with you right now.
Initially launched as Better Mobile Photos - Mike renamed the business Smartphone Photography Training to truly reflect the education side of the business that he is so passionate about.
What is Smartphone Photography Training now?
In short, an online educational community teaching mobile photography and photo editing. This is achieved through an online course, tutorials and a thriving, supportive Facebook community of photo enthusiasts participating in weekly photo themes, learning new techniques, apps and jargon-free tips.
What better way to learn about Smartphone Photography Training - than organise your own workshop for you and your colleagues. This will provide the best insight into what I offer and pick up some cool tips along the way.

Meet Mike James from Geelong in Australia. His transition from DSLR to smartphone photography was due to a sad phase of his life: Loosing his mother. He says “My mother passed away over two years ago. After her passing, I was devastated to find so very few photos of her. The two main reasons for this were; I had a great DSLR for work, which I mostly used on special occasions and mum was quite ill for a number of years.
